There are no additional electric plug-ins. Smoking in yurts is prohibited.Yurt rentals do offer electricity for the provided electric light and space heater. Visitors may book campsites annually but the maximum stay may not exceed a total of 14 days each calendar year (January-December). 19-15-01: Prohibits camping for a combined total of no more than 14 days during a calendar year (January-December), forest-wide. Reservation holders must be present at check-in.Using the pre-check in will require you to check in with the campground office upon arrival. The tent and RV sites have paved parking aprons. Cooking supplies and bedding are not provided. Interior furnishings include a futon and bunk beds with mattresses. The yurts sit on a wooden platform and have an electric light and space heater, but no additional electric plug-ins. It's a popular campground and tends to fill quickly.Įach yurt provides a cabin-like space for a family of five or six people. Fallen Leaf Lake is less crowded and not as well-known as Lake Tahoe, making this a great base camp for exploring the many sights and recreational activities in the area.
The campground is typically open from mid-May through mid-October.
The campground features 206 sites that include six yurts and standard tent and RV sites.
The south shore of Lake Tahoe is less than a mile away. The bathrooms were clean.Fallen Leaf Campground is situated on the north shore of Fallen Leaf Lake and adjacent to Taylor Creek. There were mosquitoes of course, and what looked like giant robber flies (see google) But it seemed just as you stepped down they got scared and ran away. Our site had a lot of giant black carpenter ants which I was nervous about at first. Safe for the kids to swim in BRING WATER SHOES its all rocks but you can see right down to the bottom even as you go far out. The lake was clear and so beautiful great panoramic picture. our table was big and beautiful.ĥ-10 min easy walk to the opening to the lake. I think all sites have a picnic table, big fire pit and bear box. The most quiet campground I have stayed at. The walk to the bathroom is fast and just across the way. I believe they allow 2 tents or 1 tent & 1 trailer. There is plenty of room here for a several tents. It is a shame they say only 6 people to a site. A lot of the parking spaces for the trailer are lined with wood posts/big rocks and we didn't have a ton of room right next to the trailer but we loved this site.
It is a very big site with lots of room to roam around.
