The lick itself isn't too hard, but it requires a lot of practice so you get muscle memory to play the right notes. Take something like The Handler, it has quite an easy main riff, but during the interludes it has a really cool sounding bass lick. In short, once you play for a bit, you'll realize that a lot of Muse's baselines are medium difficulty, either requiring stamina, fast hands or a little bit of both. Nothing especially difficult here.įeeling Good is veeerry easy, but I mean you'd kinda expect that. Muscle Museum was the first song I learned to play on bass, it's fun to play and has a very good pace. The main riff is on the A string only so there will be no hopping around.

Stockholm Syndrome is the same way, if you can keep up with it! I use a pick because I don't have Chris's ungodly speed.Ĭitizen Erased is pretty easy, just a lot of notes to play. Once you get down the actual notes its quite easy (because you're just sliding the finger down the string).Įxo-Politics is super fun and easy to play, just be ready for sore fingers. Psycho is also pretty easy, but the intermission between the chorus and verse will just take some practice so you can memorize what to play. I think Time is Running Out is quite friendly to beginners, there's not not too much movement in the frethand (except right before the riff returns to square one). This is all coming from a guy who started playing bass/guitar for the first time the beginning of fall semester last year.
